Summer evenings at Dibden Golf Centre...
With so much to celebrate and talk about at Dibden Golf Centre this week, were do I start? Well let's get the all-important Mytime Staff versus Bramshott Hill Golf Club annual match out the way first, and yes we lost again to a strong club team three matches to one. A big thank you to everyone one who played on both sides and to Roger Tomey for kindly laying on food and drinks in the clubhouse afterwards.
The BHGC Club Championship also took place over the week and this prestigious event was won with a 36 hole gross score of 149 by Tony Hobbs in testing conditions on a challenging course. The Reg Alderson Trophy (0-14 Hcp) was won by Darren Saunders with a nett 130 and the Waterside Trophy (15-28 Hcp) went to Stefan Davies with a nett 134. The Junior Club Champion for 2016 was Seamus Parry with Zac Bowen winning the Applemore Shield.
Other match news sees BHGC face a testing quarter-final tie in the Carpet Barn over 50's Interclub Knockout at Highcliffe Golf Club on Friday, 12 August. After wins over Bridport, Burley and Dudsbury, Bramshott Hill are on the verge of reaching finals day for the third time, a win at Highcliffe will put them in the semi-final guaranteeing a place in the finals day at Ferndown Golf Club. The team reached finals day, for the second time, last year as a losing semi-finalist, but were narrowly edged out in the third/fourth place play-off match which was severely weather affected. Let's hope they can go one step further and reach the final in 2016 by winning two more matches. We wish team Captain and Dibden Golf Centre Greenkeeper, Gary Hawker, and his players, all the best.
On Monday, 1 August Ed Moseley, Seniors' Captain of BHGC, had his Captain's Day. 43 senior members took part in a fun stableford competition which was won by Dave Bosworth. The event once again raised an excellent amount of money for the Oakhaven Hospice
